Get me Bodied!

Get me Bodied!

Simone de Beauvoir once stated, “Change your life today. Don’t gamble on the future, act now, without delay”. This quote resonated with me in so many ways but mainly with my most recent lifestyle change. In one of my previous blogs “2018 Reflection” I slightly touched on my fitness journey, and I mentioned me kicking off the new year with a new Keto Diet to see what it did to my body. Boy did it work! Within the first couple of days, I was dropping weight. It may have not been noticeable in the mirror, but the scale was not lying. Towards the end of the month, my mom joked about me disappearing because I was getting so small. You can check out my 7 Day Review and Final Review on YouTube to get a better feel of the diet. I also provide the types of mealsI tried while on the Keto Diet.

As I mentioned before, I knew when I made the big move to Denver that I wanted to be healthier. I remember while doing my 20-hour drive looking down at my stomach as it flopped over the seatbelt lol. Call me dramatic but it was unbelievable. When I made my first stop on my road trip to Denver, I told my friend Corpuz I think I am constipated or something, like my stomach is massive. I went on to snap a photo that I later deleted (I wish I still had it). So, I went out and bought a laxative while increasing my water intake, but it did little to nothing for me.

I touched down in Denver and went to the gym maybe once or twice a week. I was in the process of House Hunting and living out of a hotel so the time I needed was not really there. When I got there, I would get on the Stair Master for about 10 mins and I don’t remember the rest because I wasn’t doing anything effective. I had a friend who would ask me, if I was going to the gym and I would respond saying, “I went yesterday!”Then proceeded to tell me I won’t be able to see results if I was not going every day. He then sent me a CrossFit plan he was doing at the time and that was all she wrote.

I started the plan immediately! It’s a joke that it took me about 4 months to complete a 2-month plan, but I took breaks on the weekends or when I simply couldn’t make it. Just like anyone new to fitness, no one wants to look crazy in the gym and BOY did I look fool up! I was forced to learn a lot of the moves on my own via YouTube. When I started to see the change in my body my spirits got a little higher. Maybe, just maybe I don’t have to go to Dr. Miami to get this unwanted fat out my gut!

Since the end of my Keto Diet, my goal has been to gain more muscle mass. It’s like our bodies are experiments. You never really know what will work for your body until you go through the trial and error phase. To be completely honest when it comes to dieting, I am still trying to figure out what intakes will work for proper gains for my body. Time and Patience is a must because while it may not happen overnight, you can see results if you do it right.

I have now joined a CrossFit gym to perfect the craft and learn how to do the techniques the proper way. The coaches are very helpful when it comes to form and that was definitely something I needed before I was sitting in the ER trying to learn snatches and other things by myself. I noticed it was a lifestyle change I would sit at my desk and literally think about the gym. I would look up the Work Out of the Day and count down my time to dip. I also find myself wanting to run a lot more, but it could be because I have been on the east coast for three weeks. I may not say the same when I get back to Colorado. I never thought I would be able to run properly after my knee surgery, but I wasn’t really putting forth an effort.

I reflect every day on my journey, and I am so happy I made the decision to get my life together. If you follow me on social media, you may see a lot of before & after pics. It’s not to brag or boast but I am still in shock sometimes and it’s also to show you, that you too can make it happen.
