Every time I think of the name of this venue, I think of that dog treat commercial where they’re continuously yelling “BACON”. This venue is mad popular in the Mile High City. I actually heard about this spot via friends who have posted about, so it was a must-try. To be honest, bacon is not my go-to with my breakfast selections. I normally opt-in for ham or sausage. However, since I was at the “Bacon Social House” I had to get bacon. I stuck with the norm and ordered Boozy French Toast covered with strawberries and blueberries and it was quite tasty. The bacon was a thick cut and it was pleasant. I can’t remember the name of my booze that I ordered but I have noticed that a lot of the restaurants are getting fancy with their mimosas. It’s no longer the standard orange juice you can actually mix with kombucha. The venue is in such a dope spot and the indoor/outdoor seating was perfect for a summer morning in Denver. I’ve never been to this side of Denver but there are other cute local restaurants and shops that I have to revisit.
As you all should know by now I am from the LowCountry of South Carolina. With that being said I do not like to venture out when it comes to LowCountry cuisine. Shrimp and Grits being one of them. I always tell my friends that I’m not interested in anyone's Shrimp and Grits if it’s not from the South. Well, on this day I was mighty adventurous. I asked the waiter his thoughts on the dish and I went on to ask him where he was from. I don’t remember the exact location but it was somewhere in the south, and that was the only reason I agreed to try it out. I felt like his pallet was relatable to mine. I was not a fan of the poached egg on the side but the dish was actually delightful. It caught me off guard for Colorado but I shouldn’t be surprised at this point. I had the opportunity to try the Fried Deviled Eggs which were different, not something I would order again. My friend enjoyed their Chicken and Waffles. Y’ALL! When I go back I am getting that she gave me a leg and some of her waffles and it was the bomb. Schu Schu cleaned her plate and I helped (Click her name to follow her on IG and follow her traveling journey). Lastly, let me touch on their mimosas HUNTY! I ordered bottomless mimosa and only made it through two glasses. When I TELL YOU, they were generous with the liquor!! That’s all I want to say. Just know next time I will be taking an uber. Looks like they have two locations in Houston, and locations in San Antonio/Austin, TX.
Appaloosa Grill | Denver
On a night full of bar hopping with a group a friends I was a able to experience this restaurant, Appaloosa Grill. A friend knew a band that was preforming live that night at this venue so we decided to sliiidddeeee through. Honestly, I was exhausted and ready to go home but I was being a good sport because I don’t like to ruin anyones fun. We went from Karaoke, to a sushi place, to a brewery, and lastly Appaloosa Grill. By the time we got here I was starving like MARVIN! Well, maybe not starving but I was hungry again! I opted in for half of a Lobster Roll which was $14 bucks alone. When I tell you I devoured that roll, it legit changed my life. It changed my life so much that I left my dang bank that night at the venue. The next day I went to get my card and you know I decided to order the roll again, but this time the full lobster roll. I have been back twice since then, so please know that I am not steering you wrong. The venue is chill and the plus is that they offer live bands on certain nights. Also, this venue is located conveniently on the 16th Street Mall. This is a must if you’re every in the Denver area.
FRENCH TOAST FLAMBÉ | LOBSTER OMELETTE
Tripped to Toronto for a weekend and got to enjoy this beauty! If you can’t tell or if I haven’t stated it, French Toast is my go-to in most cases. I enjoyed the Lobster Omelette while in Toronto and it was decent. They provided a fair amount of Lobster within the omelet which I appreciate. I am a seafood lover and I never tried lobster with breakfast, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. The French Toast was amazing and delightful, not much to say. Super dope venue, I highly recommend and will be visiting again.
From the moment I walked up to this venue, I just enjoyed the vibe and ambiance of the restaurant. I enjoyed their French Toast with Mixed Berries, Vermont Maple Syrup with Lavender, and Bourbon Vanilla Whipped Cream. The presentation of their version of French Toast was so admirable I didn't want to eat. So, let me just throw this out there, I am a fan of French Toast, Scrambled with Cheese, and some sort of meat. I chose their Sliced Grass-Fed Beef Filet. It was all amazing as well as their drink menu. Fig & Olive has numerous venue around the world. Check their website out to see if there is one in your local area.
Sugar Factory | South Beach Miami
What are you eating/drinking? Sugar Factory Rainbow Sliders | Fuzzy Peach Penguin Mango drink.
By far the most eye catching plate I've seen thus far and the MAIN reason I chose this for my lunch. I know a lot of you are wondering what type of effect the colorful buns had on my taste buds. Shockingly enough it tasted similar to a regular burger. The menu options were amazing but my curiosity led me to the sliders due to it's amazing presentation. The drink we ordered was massive and is definitely something you could share with a group. Be sure to have your cameras ready for the grand presentation which we captured on video of course. Nice cool beverage to enjoy on South Beach.
Recommend: Of Course! Perfect venue to hang out with friends with bomb fish bowl drinks along with a huge variety of food. If I am able to attend another Sugar Factory I would love to try their Chicken and Waffles.
What are you eating/drinking?: Steak with a Peppercorn Sauce, Macaroni and Cheese, Steak Fries, and Buttered Spinach.
Am I the only one who doesn't have to be in a large group to explore and try new things? Well trying new restaurants is definitely it for me. At Six in Cambridge I tried a massive Steak medium well with a Peppercorn Sauce, Macaroni and Cheese, Steak Fries, and Buttered Spinach. The views in the venue was amazing over looking the breathtaking panoramic views of the peaceful city. Floor to ceiling windows will suck you right into a great photo opt, but I was alone and I'm not into asking the waiter/waitresses for photos. They also have a nice rooftop but it was a little too chilly for my likings. Overall great experience.
Recommend: Amazing Venue, Service, and Food. Elle Approved.
What are you eating/drinking?: Gumbo and She Crab Soup and let's not forget the mimosas.
When I chose this restaurant for a ladies brunch with close friends, I made sure the waiter knew that we needed a seat near the window for good lighting. Who knew I would've captured this bomb shot on my iPhone 6. The food is amazing and definitely my go to choice when I can't decide where to brunch in the DMV.
Recommend: I highly suggest trying their French Toast.
Brown's Brasserie & Bar | Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, UK
What are you eating?: Slow Roasted Cooked Pork Belly | served with mash, green beans, and seared with a sweet savory sauce.
So I totally forgot what I ordered and when she brought the plate out I had to ask "what is this?" You can imagine the look on her face 😒 but it was my first time ordering pork belly. Once I cut into the little 🐷 it was so tenderized and yummy, energizer bunny 🐰... y'all know the rest. Nonetheless food was BOMB!
Recommend: I would definitely recommend this pleasant surprise. The venue was once an Outpatient clinic, which made me admire it even more. See below for more photos.
Liberty Tree | Washington, DC
Liberty Tree may be a small secret to the large population of DC. My friend invited me to brunch with her because she was a witness of their bomb food. Unfortunately I do not recall the name of this dish and nothing rang a bell while searching through the current menu. It may have been a seasonal dish, if so I'm sorry you're missing out. They have a small patio located on the side of the building if you love a nice patio.
